Librarians Confirmed It

Hi Reader,

In case you missed my billboard on Route 93…

I am now officially one of the funniest writers on the planet.

This distinction comes courtesy of the Erma Bombeck Writing Competition, hosted by the Washington-Centerville Public Library in Ohio, which means actual librarians were involved. And we all know librarians are the superheroes of free speech.

So yes.

Superhero-verified.

My essay, Deck the Wall Halls with Other People’s Furniture: A Love Letter to Allston Christmas, placed Top 3 in the Global Humor category.

Global. As in… planet Earth.

If you know me, you know this is now part of the rotation.

For at least the next 48 hours, I will be working this honorific into everyday conversation — invited or not.

Yet, also, because the Lord likes to keep me grounded, I had to pause my international acclaim and the world tour of my living room to deal with a plumber and a backed-up toilet. Global recognition and local plumbing can, in fact, coexist.

Will my children suddenly revise their long-standing opinion of my comedic brilliance? Remains to be seen.

In the meantime, I’m moving through the world with Top-Echelon Energy.

You are warmly invited to join the chorus of celebration. Please feel free to tell all your friends that you personally know a globally recognized humor writer. It enhances your reputation.

And if your website, LinkedIn, or book idea isn’t yet reflecting the level of authority you’ve earned…

We should talk.

I sharpen language for professionals in regulated industries who are ready to sound authoritative, credible, and unmistakably human.

In other words, if your topic is dense, I make it make sense.

Legend in my own mind. Now librarian-approved.

Hi Reader, So… in my last email, I shared that I’m officially listed as a content writer with Alchemy Three and Alchemy Wealth Marketing. And several of you asked a very reasonable question, because you replied and asked: “Wait—what’s Alchemy Wealth Marketing? How’s it different than Alchemy Three?” Fair question. Great question. Love curious readers. And since each brand deserves its own attention, I’m giving them exactly that. Alchemy Wealth Marketing Alchemy Wealth Marketing is a marketing...

a white box with writing on it next to a plant

Hi Reader, Most professional copy sounds like it survived a committee and lost its will to live. Safe writing is forgettable writing—and forgettable writing is expensive. A few ways to surface voice without going off the rails: Choose verbs that move. “Provide” does nothing. “Build, cut, deliver, earn” do the work. Say the sharp thing cleanly. One crisp line beats four polite paragraphs. Keep the reader in the room. “You” outperforms “our clients.” Always. Leave a fingerprint. A phrase you’re...

a sign with a question mark and a question mark drawn on it

Hi Reader, A recent client came to me with a familiar line: “My website doesn’t sound like me—and it isn’t converting.” The copy had been stitched together from templates and AI drafts. Efficient? Sure. Effective? No. What we did: Interview, not intake. I asked for stories, not bullet points. Positioning first. Who they are for—and who they aren’t. Voice map. Phrases they actually say, verbs with teeth, zero filler. Page surgery. Clear headlines, scannable proof, concrete offers. Results:...
