Hi Reader, “I don’t want to sound like a mansplainer.” That was the brief. Not a brand voice document. Not a 27-page strategy deck. Just that one sentence—and I knew exactly what he meant, because I already knew who we were trying to reach… and more importantly, what she had absolutely no patience for. The woman this site speaks to isn’t new to money. She’s built a career, a business, a life that works—and she can spot the usual financial copy from a mile away. The over-explaining. The posturing. The subtle (and not-so-subtle) talking down. It’s not that the information is wrong. In many cases, it’s technically correct. Compliant. Approved. It’s that it doesn’t speak to the ideal client. I’m not a client of Kaspian Group, but I am close enough to one of their clients to recognize her in a sentence or two. I know when she’s leaning in, and I know when she’s already checked out—and that’s the difference between filling a page and actually connecting. So instead of writing at her, we wrote with her in mind the entire time. The result is a site that doesn’t try too hard, doesn’t overcompensate, and doesn’t assume. It simply meets her where she already is. And does it without stepping outside what can—and should—be said. Take a look here: https://kaspiangroupinc.com/ If you’re giving your own website a second look this summer, it’s worth asking a better question than “What else should we say?” Something more like: “Are we actually speaking to the person we think we are?” Because when you’re too close to it, you can’t see the label when you live inside the bottle. That’s the work I do. I lead with the writing, and I bring a full team behind me to make sure the whole thing holds together—from first impression to final click. Especially in industries where getting the words right isn’t only about sounding good—it’s about getting it right. Because the right words don’t shout. They recognize. Best, |

Hi Reader, One of the questions I hear most often is, "What actually happens in a Voice Clarity Intensive?" The easiest way to answer that is to tell you what happened with one of my clients. He came to me because his employee benefits firm had a name that sounded more like a marketing agency. He assumed the company name was getting in the way. It wasn't. He wasn't about to change the company name. What he needed was language that made it immediately obvious what he did. People hire...
Hi Reader, One of my favorite moments in client work is when we realize we've been trying to solve the wrong problem. That happened recently with a client who owns a college admissions consulting business. She came to me because she wanted to create a thought leadership brand alongside her business—something that would speak more directly to parents and support them through the college application process. It seemed straightforward enough. The longer we talked, the more I realized we weren't...
Hi Reader, One of my favorite expressions is this: You can't read the label when you live inside the bottle. It's why writing your own website is so difficult. It's also why AI can only take you so far. Neither one can solve the biggest challenge: proximity. When you've spent years building a business, it's hard to tell the difference between what everybody knows and what only you know. The assumptions become invisible. The language feels obvious. The stories you've told a hundred times no...
