Hi Reader, you beautiful human, slides into your inbox with a large coffee and questionable morning hair Okay, so... how I always say that writing coaching is this weird mix of strategy, cheerleading, and occasionally talking people off ledges? My writers have been absolutely crushing it lately, and I'm proud of the work we've done together. First Up: One Client Is Almost Famous NowSo one of my authors has a book coming out soon (cue me doing the proud mom dance), and GET THIS – a certain celebrity whose name I absolutely cannot drop yet, but let's say they have EXCELLENT taste – has requested an advance copy. (And before you ask: no, it's not Taylor Swift. I know, that was your first guess because apparently she's the only celebrity who reads books now, according to the internet.) I'm sitting here trying to act all professional about it, but inside I'm basically that girl from TikTok screaming "OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD" in the car. Except I'm not on TikTok because I still think it's for teenagers and dance videos. More juicy details will be coming in a future update, as I'm still processing, and I've probably signed seventeen NDAs without realizing it. Agent Success Story (AKA I'm Not Crying, You're Crying)Another one of my writers – the embodiment of persistence– landed an agent for his intellectual property book. And can we discuss how he went from "what am I even saying here?" to "I have representation" in just three months? I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the publishing gods have a twisted sense of humor, and timing is everything. Also, we created a killer manuscript together that basically sold itself. Manifestation Works, Y'all I've already told you a bit about the upcoming event I'm moderating, "Thriving in Boston As A Creative," but there is a fun backstory to how it all happened. So this whole thing started because I decided at the absolute last minute to attend a book reading. You know how I am – saw the event, thought "why not," and showed up ready to absorb some literary vibes. I've been wanting to add "moderator" to my list of bona fides, and apparently, the universe was listening. In classic Judi fashion, I thought I was going undercover, and next thing I know, I'm all in everyone's business. Literally. Trinette Faint apparently loved what she called my "bold energy" (which I'm pretty sure is polite speak for "you talk a lot and I’m into it"), and asked me to moderate her film screening and panel event about succeeding as a creative in Boston. Must be those Eldest Daughter vibes. "Thriving in Boston as a Creative" is coming up fast on October 11th and perfectly aligns with everything I believe about making it anywhere you are, even when you feel like you have no idea what you're doing. The Real TeaListen, I started this whole writing coach thing because I believe good stories deserve to see the light of day, even when (especially when) the world feels like it's run by caffeinated hamsters on wheels. These wins aren't only my clients' and collaborators’ victories – they're proof that persistence, good coffee, and occasionally ignoring conventional wisdom actually work. What are you working on? And more importantly, what's stopping you from finishing it? Hit reply and spill – I promise to respond with minimal judgment and maximum enthusiasm. Now, excuse me while I go Google "how to act normal when your client is going to be on TV." Best, P.S. Writing alone is overrated. Writing with me in your corner? Way more fun. Hit reply if you’re ready to stop talking about your book (or other creative project) and actually bring it to life. |

Hi Reader, my fellow language lover, Some of you have heard this rant before. Maybe you’ve even nodded politely while quietly deleting your last email that began with “I just wanted to check in…” But like most things worth repeating—ABBA songs, sunscreen, and “don’t text your ex”—this one bears repeating. Let’s talk about my nemesis: the word “just.” Not “just” as in justice for all (that I’m here for). I’m talking about the sneaky, squishy, apologetic “just” that slips into our sentences...
Hi Reader, my fellow inmate, A question I hear all the time when writing website copy and blogs is: "How much do you focus on SEO?" Short answer? It matters. But not as much as making sure the words on your site sound like you. SEO is like a neon sign—it can help bring people to your door. But once they’re inside, if the experience doesn’t match what they expected, they’re walking right back out. You don’t just want traffic. You want connection. You want the right people to land on your site,...
Hi Reader, my fellow pumpkin spice follower, We’ve all seen the offers: Done-for-you copy. Start-from-scratch coaching. But what if you’re already in it—writing, revising, questioning everything—and what you need is a thought partner? Drum roll, please…🥁 And now for something completely different... A solution for writers who are writing and need help with—you guessed it—the writing. Some folks bring me on to write their message from scratch. Others want guidance as they find their voice and...
